Description:

We are fascinated with new technology.  That fascination is never satisfied.  Every year we find new gadgets, apps, and media to feed this insatiable appetite.  It is not overstated to say we are addicted to this never-ending parade of technology advances.

Technology, unlike pharmaceuticals, does not carry a disclosure of possible side-effects.  As we move into the 21st century even the most casual observer can see troubling “side-effects” from a prolonged use or abuse of technology related products.  There is no question this fascination, to state it positively, or addiction, to state it negatively, of technology comes with some undesirable side effects.

There are studies of fractured lives and fractured families that can be traced back to specific years when “advances” or new features were made to social media platforms. There are stories of social media leaders who refuse to allow their children to have any “screen-time.”  Why? Because they know the harmful side-effects. This is not a new problem, but it is complicated, and many agree it has contributed to fractures in society.

How can Christians, many of whom feel lost and disoriented, find their way in this overwhelming complexity?  “The Gospel Thread” is a simple tool designed to give Christians the confidence to take advantage of the benefits offered by technology rather than being victimized by it.  “The Gospel Thread” offers an opportunity for technology to serve a better outcome when viewed through a redemptive lens.
